Saori(゜∇ ゜) “Hello everyone! It’s Saori from Otaku Republic~! Well, well… for today’s【Coupling Column】… Guess what? I’ll feature THAT title, which will be made into the movie version in Japan!!”

 

 

 

【Coupling Column】Vol.24 Yowamushi Pedal!!

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “YES! They announced that they have started producing the movie version of Yowamushi Pedal, for its release on August 14^th! As for its scenario, the main characters, Sakamichi-Kun and Imaizumi-Kun will surely appear so I guess they will appear at the beginning! It has already be made into the play version so I look forward to watching it as the movie version~!”

●Toudou Jinpachi x Makishima Yusuke【TouMaki】

 

The relationship of the two: Fated rivals, who both climb over the mountain together

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “Who is Toudou Jinpachi?”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “He is in the third grade (12^th grader) at Hakone Gakuen, which is a rival school with Souhoku High School, where the main character Onoda-Kun and other characters go to! His position is the climber and he plays one of the most important roles in the race, such as leading other teammates on the hill, where everybody tends to use up their energies, stretching their lead to the opponent team! Also, he is mentally stable, being calm and serious. He is very dependable, avoiding others’ provocation, managing his own pace and keeping training himself!”

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “How about Makishima Yusuke?”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “He is in the third grade (12^th grader) at Souhoku High School, where the main character, Onoda-Kun and other characters go to. He is also a climber with Toudou-Kun! Taking an advantage of his height, he is able to climb up the hill with the same speed even if it’s a long slope. On the other hand, he is not good at the flat road. Therefore, he works so hard as a climber, keeping practicing and figuring out what his weak points are. That way, he has acquired good techniques and confidence!”

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “So! The reason why these two are so popular…? YES! They are both climbers, dependable Senpai and good rivals, who appear at the beginning of the story!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “I think their relationship ‘Good rival and friends’ is their attraction too! I would say Toudou-Kun cares more about Makishima-San but Makishima-San is used to making sure their situations by making a phone call to him a couple times a week too! They look heartwarming even when they are not racing!”

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “But again, during the race, these calm and ironic boys change! They keep competing again and again for the competitions so they can lead their team to the victory with their pride and confidence! We see no such things as negative sides (hatred or conspiracy) but we only see respect and passion in them in every competition. Therefore, we feel so refreshing, watching their competition. I was so moved when they ended the competition…!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “By the way, these two appeared in the movie Anime, whose past version was the limited edition! The title is【Yowamushi Pedal SPARE BIKE】, where you see how they met for the first time, how they became rivals! If you are curious about it, check it out!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

●Shinkai Hayato x Arakita Yasutomo【Shinara】

 

The relationship of the two: Hakone Gakuen’s “Demon” and “Staff”

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “What is Shinkai Hayato like?”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “He is in the third year (12^th grader) at Hakone Gakuen, like Toudou-Kun and in charge of the position, Cycling sprinter (who is like a stretch runner, trying to win from several hundred meters before the goal). He usually looks cool and calm, compared to all the 12 graders at Hakone Gakuen…. BUT! He shows a totally different side, such as his character and facial expression, before the goal!! (Since he really looks scary in that moment…), his nickname is ‘Hakone’s Straight Line Demon’...!!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “Aaand how about Arakita Yasutomo?”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “He is in the third grade (12^th grader) at Hakone Gakuen, who uses rough language, just like how he looks! However, he actually cares about his buddies, unlike how he looks. He treats his teammates who are younger than him very kindly (even though he still uses rough language) and he is also in the important position where he supports the leader in his team.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “So! These two appear as the strongest members, who support Hakone Gakuen! Shinkai-Kun has a trauma being scared when he passes the opponent team’s racer from the left side due to an accident happened in one competition. Since he has realized that he cannot use full power because of that reason, he was going to refuse to participate in the competition… But then, his buddies at Hakone Gakuin encouraged him, saying what he needs is to find out his own way, rather than getting over that trauma. Especially Arakita-San said to Shinkai-Kun, ‘Don’t give up this chance! You have a talent!’….!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “Not only in the original but we see them getting along well in the C part as the extra edition also in Anime version! The original Manga is good but check also Anime version~! It’s good too!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

●Aoyagi Hajime x Teshima Junta【Aote】

 

The relationship of the two: “T2” who newly leads Souhoku High School

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “What is Aoyagi Hajime like?!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “He is in the 2^nd grade (11^th grader) at Souhoku High School. When he was in the third grade (12^th grader), he was the sub-leader, also a partner with Teshima Junta-Kun! He paired up with Teshima-Kun and made a team called ‘T2 (Team2)’, when they first appeared, making up for each other’s’ weak points and enhancing their skills! Especially after Senpai graduated, his skill as the sprinter was gradually improved, trying to lead the team!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “And how about Teshima Junta?”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜)  “He is also in the 2^nd grade (11^th grader) at Souhoku High School, like Aoyagi –Kun. He became the leader when he was in the third grade (12^th grader)! He knows that there are so many skillful rivals, Senpai and teammates around him, and is conscious about his lacking his talent more than anybody, which has made him make even more efforts!”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “When Teshima-Kun was a junior high school student, he loved the road race so much but his results were not good enough. He was about to give up on racing after he graduates from junior high school, when he met Aoyagi-Kun, who encouraged him to challenge again! They thought they could grow together, enhancing each other’s weak points! That’s how the team ‘T2’ was formed.”

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saori(゜∇ ゜) “They know that their younger teammates are more skillful at the road race but they still take good care of them, which is one of their attractions! What I want you guys to watch in Anime is Season 3, when all the Senpai graduated and they  become the leaders of the club!! In the original, the new development, where various environments have changed when they go on to the next grade, is depicted in Part 2!
