I would like to share the feature of ice cream in summer which must be the most popular time of ice cream, so this time I will introduce my recommended manga to fight Aoi.

Marmalade Boy is a serial work on a Japanese girls’ comic book called ‘Ribbon’ in the 1990s!

The TV anime was broadcasted in 1994.

Although this is the work of 20 years ago, in May of 2013, the successor, “Marmalade Boy little”, whose theme is 13 years later of the original work, started running in a manga magazine for girls called “Cocohana” and became our topic again. (*´ω｀*)

It sounds like a typical romantic story of high school students, but the human relationship is very complicated and it is such an interesting work.

 

 

 

・The appearing characters and the complicated human relationship

 

The main character, Koishikawa Miki, is a high school student girl.

 

One day, her parents suddenly say that they will divorce.

When she is wondering “how come my parents got along with each other but need to do?”…

 

Actually,

when they traveled to Hawaii, they met Mr. and Mrs. Matuura. Since her mother was in love with the husband (Matsuura Youji) and her father was in love with the wife, they say they will swap their partners and re-marry.

they also say that they want to live in a house together with both families’ kids, Miki and Matsuura Yuu, so it will be 6 people in total. 

 

Mike thinks it is weird that 2 pairs swap their partners and live together with kids in the same house. However, the performance of her parents and Mr. and Mrs. Matsuura cheats her and it is decided that the 6 people will live together.

Zin (Miki’s father) and Chiyako (Yuu’s mother) have a baby, whose name is Koishikawa Saku.

In Marmalade Boy little, the romantic story between Matsuura Rikka and Namura Aoi (Meiko and teacher Namura’s son) is described mainly, as mentioned above.

 

 

★The brief story★

Rikka and Saku have grown up as real sister and brother in the same house. However, when they were 6 years old, their parents let them know that they are not related by blood

Although Rikka got shocked, she accepted the fact by hearing from Saku that “we are still a family although we are not related by blood”.

When they become 12 years old, they go to the junior high school that Miki and Yuu used to go…

 

 

It is a very interesting work with something fresh and old mixed well, as Ginta appears as their teacher and we can watch Miki and Yuu’s wedding.

I didn’t imagine to see that the 2 of them that I was watching when I was in elementary school are having a wedding party. I feel something that I cannot explain enough as if I was watching at my own friends’ wedding party that I have been taking care of.

Also, Saku is love with Rikka… Like the typical Marmalade Boy, the relationship might get complicated again, which we want to keep watching.

Marmalade Boy’s author, Mr. Yoshizumi Wataru, has so many interesting works besides this.

As Mr. Yoshizumi’s works are all interesting, I will introduce some of my recommendations among them.

This manga is a 2-volume work so it was very easy to read.

 

★The brief story★

The main character, Totoki Atsumu, is a high school student boy who is excellent in academic results but shy in love.

The boy loves a 16-year-old girl who has already divorced, Akane.

Atsumu got surprised at this shocking fact, but he cannot give up the feeling to her!!

After the divorce, Akane cannot show her true smiling face anymore. In this story, Atsumu is trying to get her smile back and get his love to bear fruits.

 

The setting that 16-year-old girl is already divorced is interesting, but the kind and frail-looking Akane speaks very differently and sharply when she gets angry like someone different. Her gap is also very interesting.

Also, I am sure that you will feel like supporting Atsumu if you see how pure he is!

The main character, Minamino Noeru, is a boy who is in the second year of junior high school. He has a twin sister Maria, and Noeru loves his sister! He crazily loves his sister!

However! When Noeru is traveling to Hawaii, Maria is looking after her first love and moving to a boarding school.

Noeru who loves his sister doesn’t allow her to have a boyfriend! To disturb Maria’s love, he is decided to move to the school and get her to move back to the original school.

However! When he is trying to move to the junior high school where Maria is, the school principal asks him to be out with the condition that only girls are allowed to move in because the dormitory for girls is only available.  

Moving in as a girl!? Noeru is upset but defeated by his feeling to get Maria back. This is how Noeru decides to move into this boarding junior high school as a twin sister looking like Maria.

Of course, his roommate is a girl. What will Noeru be like? Can he get Maria back?

 

 

This works is very interesting with twin sister and brother’s romance★ Since this has an element of comedy strongly, please take a look if you want to laugh!

 

 

 

I have introduced some works, but how was it? The manga I explained above was the one in the 1990s, but it is still enjoyable even now.

We can enjoy manga beyond the time! That is the manga’s attractiveness.
