After I finished watching first season of “CODE GEASS Lelouch of the Rebellion”, I thought “An astonishing anime came out...”. This is a story two boys counter supercountry “Holy Britannian Empire”, which dominates one third of fictional world which history is different from the real, in different way. Protagonist Lelouch obtained a power known as “geass” from a mysterious girl C.C (pronounced C Two). He organized a resistance known as “The Black Knight”. He tries to carry on rebellion against the empire for his mother and for the future of his younger sister by whatever means. On the other hand, the other protagonist Suzaku tries to change the empire internally through the front door for redemption she sacrificed her father.

I think this is an anime “for adult” very much which are made by staffs of premier anime “Planetes” and characters are designed by CLAMP-sensei.
First season was broadcast at midnight and second season was broadcast at 5 p.m. on Sundays. Actually, first season were aimed for being broadcast as “Sat6 (6 p.m. on Saturdays)” (popular anime such as “Gundam SEED” and “Fullmetal Alchemist” were broadcast on this schedule) but it was considered as not going along at the time. So it was forced to be broadcast at midnight. However, the story and characters were honed to the present. The second season was broadcast at “Sun5”, which is a replacement of “Sat6”, because of its popularity. I felt rebellion runs true to form this anime.

At this moment, there are 50 episodes (25 episodes×2) of anime which protagonist is Lelouch and original anime film “Code Geass: Akito the Exiled” have been released up to chapter 2. It is also made into a game, musical, Japanese pinball, ridiculous drama CD and so on. As an aside, I have a friend who got interested in this anime because of Japanese pinball. He is addicted to the anime... . It seems this anime still has an increasing number of fans.

Personally, I think the highlight of this anime is rencounter of human although it also has a robot anime aspect in which robots such as the Nightmare frame wage a battle. Of course combination of Lelouch and Suzaku is popular as well as Lelouch and his younger sister Nunnally, Lelouch and his father Britania monarch and so on... . But personally, the combination I like the most is Lelouch and Euphemia. Euphemia is third daughter of the emperor. He knows her from childhood and she is his first crush. She is warm and doesn’t have ability to lead and political strength but have the steel to help the week. She is the only person who noticed the identity of Lelouch and just when she extended her arm to cooperate with him, the tragic drama unfolded triggered by “geass” and it worsened the gap between Lelouch and Suzaku. Since the first season finished at here, I spent days agonizing about the second season. I recommend you to watch all episodes at one time since all episodes are made into software now.
