Since draft plan was made by Hiromi Wakabayashi who is a creator of “Gurren Lagann” and “Kill la Kill”. Therefore, many of creative stuffs of Gurren Lagann participate in this anime.
Illustrations and productions have an American cartoon taste. Therefore, when I saw it first time, I thought this anime is an American cartoon. Actually, titles of each episode in a parody of old American films. This anime was selected as a nominee by The Agency for the 15th Cultural Affairs Japan Media Arts Festival.
The story is about angel sisters, Panty and Stocking, who were kicked out of Heaven due to their bad behavior. They can return back to heaven when they collect enough Heaven Coins by destroying Ghosts. This story is filled with dirty jokes. I saw this anime by chance in midnight and I was so surprised because they were fighting with adult toys(◎_◎;)!! What is more, their illustration is usually deformation but when they transform their lingerie into weapons, their illustration becomes life size. Transform their lingerie into weapon means, Panty undresses her pants and fight without wearing pants!! In the scene of transformation, they do a pole dance with life size illustration. That is so cool and cute and sexy!! The music played at the scene is “Fly Away” composed by TeddyLoid attained first place for iTunes Store anime song chart. He appeared in episode 22. Preview of this scene in Youtube was more than 20,000 and it was posted on the top of “popular movie” in December 2010.
What amazed me the most in this anime is the scene they destroy demons. Only the scene is live-action even this is an animation!!
The characters I like are Panty, Stoking and Brief! Stoking is so cute. Her style is gothic Lolita and her weapon is Japanese sword. That is so cool. Panty is bitch. She likes sex too much and she has had sex with thousand men. She cares about her sister. That is the point I like her the most. Brief is a geek boy and have had a crush on Panty. He is an occult fanboy but when he met ghost in real, he fell senseless. That is the cute point of him. His bangs are too long and hide his face but actually, he is a beautiful boy. Garterbelt is a priest, boss of the sisters and gay. When Brief swallowed the sisters who became reduction in size, Garterbelt abstracted sisters from his anus... .
I like this anime so such that I bought many items. My most favorite item is stuffed toy of Honekoneko. By having it, I can feel as if I am Stocking. Of course I bought soundtrack and listen it almost daily during commuting. The soundtrack attained 10th place for weekly chart and the 3rd place in 2011 anime soundtrack sales ranking. If you are a fan of this anime, it’s worth listening it. Only CD version has a bonus track.
