Blood Lad is published in serialized form in monthly “Young Ace” and made into anime from July 2013. The anime blurb is“Let your blood be your guide.
This is the story that Staz, who is a vampire, bring Fuyumi back to life. Fuyumi got lost and killed in devildom. From this story line, you may anticipate serious and dark fantasy but it is totally different. I thought I shouldn’t miss this anime since I like dark fantasy vampire story but when I watch it, I was surprised very much. Central character Sutazu is straight Otaku who likes Japanese anime, game and comics. The reason of Fuyumi’s death is really crap. I couldn’t stop feeding when she died in a place like that. There are no other stories in the past that heroin died such easy by such a crappy reason. I noticed this is a gag anime and was disappointed but I kept watching by force of habit. Then, gradually I was drawn into the story. This is a story about conflict of Fuyumi, who is dead and became devil and Sutazu’s suffering that he cannot admit himself to be a vampire but he cannot fight off his blood. It is a human drama more than a gag.
Since it is mainly gag, serious scenes and battle scenes are stand out more. This is well-made anime. I think it was a right choice that I didn’t stop watching it. It seems there many fans who have similar feelings with me. New goods are sold after another. I recommend you to watch this!
