Hello everyone~! The anime we're introducing today is a spring anime, but it's a bit short with only 8 episodes! It's a somewhat special work among the spring anime! Makes you curious, doesn't it~? I'm Saori from Otaku Republic!

While the highly praised 2024 winter anime are currently being broadcast, let's gradually start previewing the spring anime as well! And so, the popular work we're introducing this time is this one!

Oh~! So the new Touken Ranbu anime will be broadcast from April 2024.

That's right. Touken Ranbu is quite a famous work, so I think many people know it, but to briefly explain, it's about the Touken Danshi, beings that personify the feelings imbued in swords used by historical figures or that have left their mark on history. Players in the future world, along with the Touken Danshi, time travel to the past to subdue mysterious enemies trying to change history. That's the kind of story it is!

So, the story being animated this time is...... a story related to Oda Nobunaga, the most famous Sengoku period warlord in Japan.

Speaking of Oda Nobunaga, he's the warlord famous for unifying Japan for the first time in the 1500s. He's known for various heroic tales, but ultimately, he was assassinated due to the betrayal of a subordinate.

That's right! And the enemy this time seems to be attempting to change the history of “Oda Nobunaga being assassinated.” Changing the fact of the assassination...... means history would be altered to one where Oda Nobunaga survives. And the swords chosen to subdue this enemy were once owned by Oda Nobunaga...... Swords that were cherished, roughly handled, or stayed by his side until his dying moment. They had an unruly personality, but they wanted to live. There are quite a few swords that think this way, and their hearts waver as they witness the day Oda Nobunaga is to be killed again.

It's complicated. While understanding that not changing history is the right thing, it's also true that feelings of sadness and loneliness exist. This Kyo-den: The Blazing Honnoji dramatically depicts such conflicts and the differences in thinking among the swords.

Normally, a single cour consists of 12 episodes, but the Touken Ranbu anime being adapted this time is planned for just 8 episodes! When adapting the content from the stage play into anime, the decision was made not to stretch it into a 12-episode format unnecessarily, but to deliver the charm of the stage play in just 8 episodes without adding or altering more than necessary. That's why it has this shorter number of episodes!

By the way, the story of the stage play being animated this time is the first in the stage series, so even beginners (with absolutely no prior knowledge) can properly understand the story structure!
