Relationship between the two: The father who was a former “Hashira”, and the mother who taught strength and kindness to their two children.

●Who is Rengoku Shinjuro?

Rengoku Shinjuro

A man who is the father of Rengoku Kyoujurou.
He is the head of the distinguished 'Rengoku family' that has produced excellent warriors for generations and was a former “Enbashira”.
When he was an Enbashira, he energetically defeated demons and saved people who were victimized by demons all over the place. He was ambitious enough to instruct his two sons in swordsmanship, but one day, learning of “a certain serious truth” and losing his beloved wife, Rengoku Ruka, he mentally burned out and retired from being an Enbashira.
Now he spends his days in dissipation, drinking alcohol every day.

●Who is Rengoku Ruka?

Rengoku Ruka

A woman who is the mother of Rengoku Kyoujurou.
She seems to have suffered from some illness and passed away before the story begins.
She was the emotional support for her husband Shinjuro, who was an Enbashira, and treated her two children with kindness and love. Although she only appears in flashbacks, her role as a wonderful mother is depicted, and it is clear how painful it was for the remaining Rengoku family to lose her.

The fact that Rengoku-San was born from these two people is so convincing because they were both kind and strong. Ruka-San has already passed away and we can only see the affectionate relationship between them in someone's recollections, but we can still say that they were a well-matched couple.
saori
Ruka-San asked Rengoku-San, 'Do you know why you were born stronger than others?' and taught him, 'Helping the weak is the duty of those who were born strong.' With these words in mind, Rengoku-San grew up, reflecting, 'I was the one who was honored to be born to someone like you.'

Shinjuro-San also appears in the anime version, and he appeared as a character who told Tanjirou some very important facts when he came to ask. However, he was quite rough in character having lost Ruka-San and Rengoku-San while still mourning......Seeing him crying alone in a place where nobody is, thinking about the deceased Rengoku-San, I realized that he is actually a kind father. I think they are a very, very good family.

Rengoku Kyoujurou x Rengoku Senjurou

The relationship between the two: a kind elder brother and a brave younger brother. They are contrasting brothers.

●Who is Rengoku Senjurou?

Rengoku Senjurou

A kind-hearted boy who is the younger brother of Rengoku Kyoujurou.
No matter how much he trains, his talent for the sword does not blossom.
Despite being born into the prestigious Rengoku family, he was confronted with the reality that the color of his Nichirin Blade does not change (he does not qualify to join The Demon Slayer Corps). He was still young when his mother, Ruka, passed away, and he knows very little about Ruka. Instead, he was treated kindly, but strictly by his elder brother Kyoujurou, and he deeply admired Kyoujurou.

Senjurou-Kun is really a good boy. Despite being born into a prestigious family and receiving training from people like Rengoku-San, he does not have a talent that matches that of his father or brother. Despite accepting this fact, he is a good boy who can be kind to someone and wants to support someone in a different way.
saori
Rengoku-San also cherished Senjurou-Kun, and after Ruka-San passed away, he took care of him as if he were Ruka-San himself.

That's why...... it was hard to see Senjurou-Kun's reaction when I went to tell him that Rengoku-San had passed away. As a younger brother, he should have succeeded Rengoku-San, but he can't...... Seeing him announce this fact while crying, but still smiling, made me feel very sad...... I understand well how much Rengoku-San was a brother who Senjurou-Kun could respect.

The relationship of the Rengoku family is depicted in depth in the second season of the anime! The fourth season of the anime has been confirmed! How about taking this opportunity to rewatch Kimetsu no Yaiba from the first season?
