(*Kabe-don is a newly-made Japanese word used in anime, meaning that a male character is pinning a female character against a wall by placing a hand. Originally, this word was made from Kabe meaning ‘wall’ and Don as an onomatopoeia for a loud thud.)

Recently, Kabe-don is a kind of a situation which we often see in girls’ manga and romantic dramas, as a little bit radical way to get closer to the favorite person.

Many ladies might have a feeling like “I want Kabe-don even a once!”.

 

However!

 

Originally, Kabe-don was a word to alarm the noisy neighbors living in a complex such as apartment basically, by smashing the wall which sounds like “don”!

1. Katsuage-don

 

 

Katsuage-don is the most seen Kabe-don in anime and manga.

 

Before the word of Kabe-don is getting popular, Kabe-don was done as the below photo shown, to threaten someone and do Katsuage, or extort money.

Because of the reason above, the Kabe-don by someone with the straight-forward arm (or the Kabe-don looking like someone who is doing Katsuage) is called as Katsuage-don.

It was broadcasted in 1996! Since that time, Katsuage-don was done…Surprising!

2. Hiji-don

 

Hiji-don is another type of Kabe-don, which someone who is touching the elbow (Hiji in Japanese) tries to get closer to the opponent.

Like Katsuage-don, Hiji-don can be seen in many anime works.

If I look at them carefully, Hiji-don seems to be done often between men!

 

Mmm…Uta Pri’s episode 6 of this week has a scene that Haruka-chan got a double Hiji-don by Ren-sama and Van-kun!!!!

3. Ryote-don

 

Ryoto-don is another Kabedon with literally ‘both hands’ (Ryote in Japanese).

As a feature, the mutual distance is getting close by touching a wall with both hands. This is often done in girls’ games etc.!

Kosoku Kabe-don is a kind of Kabe-don of ‘restraint (Kosoku in Japanese), to get both hands to be locked and raised by someone.

(*I personally call it as Kosoku Kabe-don, so this is not an official name.)

Since both hands are locked, the person may not be able to move at all!

 

Therefore, this is a very aggressive Kabe-don!

・Uma-don!?

 

Uma-don is another type of Kabe-don that we can see in the game of smartphone app called ‘Uma no Prince sama’, which enables you to be in love with cool ‘horses (Uma in Japanese)’.

(*I personally call it as Uma-don, so this is not an official name.)

 

This Kabe-don is done by a leg, so it’s very strange. (*≧▽≦)

 

Don’t you think that the lyric of “Why don’t you become my horse owner?” is very strange and funny? ☆

I haven’t played this game yet, but this is one of the games that I would like to play.

I was surprised to know that Meitantei Conan and Youkai Watch also have scenes with Kabe-don.
