So for today, I’ll share something fun about the robot anime in this article, even though the true robot-lovers might say, “What? That’s for real?!” lol

What’s the Robot Anime?

　In this article, we use a term, ‘robot anime’, for anime whose subject materials are giant robots, not the robots or android like Tetsuwan Atom and C-3PO. φ(..)

　Speaking of robot anime, I bet many people have kind of a serious image of the anime only for men, developing battles among airplanes or robot-related special words jumping around... I also assume that some people only know them by their titles like Gundam series, or even don’t like robots themselves. ...You know what? I was one of such people. ⊂⌒～⊃*｡Д｡)-з I had been avoiding them somehow, but once I saw them, I was just attracted more and more by their exciting stories!

Fighting is not the only attraction of robot anime!

　Generally speaking, robot anime is thought to be based on the story where either some enemy come from the space or some troops from near future are fighting. They do battle but the main roles are always human-beings in robot anime here! All the characters appearing in robot anime here are so attractive! Handsome boys! Beautiful girls! Old guys! And even scenes of somebody taking a shower! *ﾉ∇ﾉ)

　Above all, it’s the drama, which depicts such attractive characters! It’s just one type of anime called ‘robot anime’ but it includes a variety of range: everyday story, SF, fantasy, love story, comedy and etc... Many stories are made with complicated world views or settings, so we are able to enjoy deepening each story (’-’*)♪

　What’s more? Most main characters are boys and girls. Those boys and girls live their lives going through hardship of confronting between human and human, human and organism. It’s so enjoyable and impressive to watch such characters grow. I bet you’ll get addicted to your favorite character as soon as you find the one! ヾ(〇´3｀〇)ﾉ"

So cool! Action scene!!

　Even though the main roles are characters but you definitely have to see how cool the robot・mechanism is! If the robot is cool, you’ll be able to enjoy the action scene even more. We cannot help buy scream, “Whoaaaaaaa!” (∩･∀･)∩　You will see the best part of animation, feeling oppression, speed and even beautiful images that are unique to anime!!

　Speaking of robot anime, we have to talk about this pose and angle, which is called ‘Yuusha Perse’ (Brave Man Perspective) or ‘Sunrise Standing’, which was devised by animator, Oobari Masami! It’s so cool, huh?!

　Here’s what you might want to know as well. They keep having controversy regarding which is a better mechanism drawing; hand-drawing or CG, among all the robot anime fans. ( っ・∀・)≡⊃ ﾟ∀ﾟ)・∵。

　I used to have an image that it might take more time to do a hand-drawing but now I have another image that 3DCG requires a lot more time and work to follow various steps such as modeling, rendering, animation and compositing (after effect) especially after I participated in the lecture that the firm, which produces 3D mechanic CG such as Fafner in the Azure, Ghost in the Shell, Macross Frontier or Infinite Stratos, held. It looks like both of them are difficult and time-consuming~~

　When I watch anime, I always try to tell which part is CG and which part is hand-drawing. But it’s unexpectedly hard to tell. There will be another discovery in your view of anime if you focus on watching the drawing. Give it a try!
