boss/question
First of all, about the story being adapted, it's not a compilation of the anime or a completely original story, but a spin-off manga written by the original author of Blue Lock that's being adapted, right?
saori/smile
That's right! The main Blue Lock series is serialized weekly in Weekly Shonen Magazine, while the spin-off work EPISODE Nagi is serialized monthly in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. The comics have been published up to volume 3, and it has been serialized since around June 2022!

What is the timeline? Is the story development different from the main series? Should it be read in advance?

boss
Since it's a monthly publication, there aren't many volumes yet. I want to experience the thrill in the theater, so I don't want to delve into too much detail...... But maybe it's better to read it to understand the story?
saori
I won't make a definitive statement since it's up to the individual, but I think it's also valid to watch the movie version without deliberately reading it first!
saori/closeeye
First off, the timeline is just a bit before the anime version! It starts with Nagi Seishirou, who is participating in the Blue Lock Project, and how he got into playing soccer seriously.
saori
As for whether the story development is different from the main series, it's almost the same at this point! However, since it's from Nagi-Kun's perspective, even though the same events are depicted, the different viewpoint offers a fresh experience!

As for whether it's better to read beforehand, I think if you want to be excited at the theater, it's okay not to read it, and maybe just lightly review the anime version!
saori/smile
If 'better to read beforehand' means you're worried about understanding the settings, since it shares the world view, settings, and events with the main Blue Lock series, reviewing the anime version if you're anxious is a good idea! Of course, it's also recommended to read up to volume 3 of the manga beforehand! The manga's unique and dynamic development by the same author makes it interesting!

I see~! Maybe I'll quickly review the anime then. The first season has 24 episodes, so it's quite substantial. I guess I'll wait calmly for a month.

Everyone, by all means! Please prepare for the upcoming EPISODE Nagi, scheduled for release in April 2024, in your own style!
