Nakatani Nio is truly one of the greats!

As both a longtime manga-fan and US comics professional (artist co-creator: Sandman/ DC comics), I have been deeply impressed by Nakatani Nio's work in her series, Yagate Kimi ni Naru, and decided to explore some of her earlier doujinshi. I have not been disappointed; aside from being a fine artist & visual storyteller, she's also a truly fine writer. She'd be a fine writer in any medium- theater, film, or prose. Her stories are never what you think they'll be, always unexpected... Sometimes subtle and ambiguous; sometimes violent or intense; she shys away from neither, capturing feelings with great sensitivity and visual eloquence. Her stories cover a broad range of subjects and ideas, of emotional involvements, and should be on everyone's reading list.
