【Permanent Version】5 must things to bring for Otaku events!

Mafuyu(^q^): Hi, our friends. It’s Mafuyu from Otaku Republic!

What do you imagine if you hear events where ‘Otaku’ gather?

Some of you may imagine Comiket because Comiket is held 2 times a year in summer and winter as big events.

However! There are many events every month which are related to anime, although they may not be as big as Comiket!

Actually, I went to AGF (Animate Girls Festival) yesterday. ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

As AGF is an event selling anime and game goods mainly for ladies, we have not only those events where we can buy official goods, but also we have many ‘Doujinshi-Sokubaikai’, or display and sale events of Doujinshi★

‘Doujinshi-Sokubaikai’ is literally ‘a place to distribute Doujinshi’.

We can, of course, get Doujinshi, but also we can communicate with authors and even may be able to try ‘cosplay’ depending on events.

We sometimes distinguish events like below:

All-Genre events: Events where you can find a variety of Doujinshi and Doujin goods, such as Comiket.

Only Events: Events where you can get some specific Doujinshi and Doujin goods focusing on a specific work, an appearing character or some limited characters, or coupling.

Like these, we have many anime-related events. (*´ω`*) Also, events are so fun enough to satisfy me!

But, some of you may think

I want to try to go to events but I wonder what to bring?

I am so nervous cause it will be my first time…

I remember that I was really confused what to do when I first attended it.

So, this time I would like to introduce you some useful things when you go to events.

Even beginners will be okay!

~Useful things to bring when you attend events~

1. Foldable chairs

If you go to an event that you need to wait for until the entrance, a foldable chair is a must!

For example, in the case of Comiket, if you go by a very first train and wait until the entrance, your waiting time is going to be about 5 hours! During this waiting time until opening the gate, people won’t move, of course.

It is very hard to stand and wait for that long, so I recommend you to have the foldable chair with you and wait. (。・ω・。)

As shown in the below photo, some chairs are foldable into very small sizes, and they are very light! Many kinds of useful chairs are sold so please check them out☆

2. Clipboards

Clipboards are recommended to bring for clipping an event map, booths to check, list of things to buy etc.

Especially, in the case of huge events like Comiket, clipboards allow you to clip the map and see circles and booths easily so I think they are very useful!

Also, to make sure to buy something you wanted to, you can make a list of things to buy, and clip it together with the event map. ('-'*)

3.  Cases

Cases are very useful in bringing Doujinshi, Budge and key chains back home.

Many types of cases are sold, different in sizes and thickness, so we can use them depending on your purpose of use!

The left small one is recommended when you need to bring something small like buyers’ bonus of postcards and coasters back home. (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧

・When you bring Doujinshi back home.

Some attending circles give you plastic bags when you buy, but most of the Doujinshi don’t come with bags.

If you buy a small number of books only, you may just take them in your bag, but Doujinshi may be damaged.

For someone who thinks it important to bring the important Doujinshi neatly, these cases are strongly recommended.

If you get thicker cases, many Doujinshi can be nice and secure to bring back home.

You don’t have to worry if the edges are damaged or folded.

Also, these cases are also used for organizing your Doujinshi. (Details are here★)

As shown in the below photo, the cases with separations are also recommended for bringing Doujinshi back home.

The separations help us to keep works’ genre and coupling separated and bring them back home.

・When you bring good back home.

Official goods are almost always covered with packages, but it will be safer with cases. If you set packing material inside the case as a buffer , you have no more worries on Budge to get dented!

Also, cushioning pouches are recommended when you bring goods back home.

You will then safely bring your goods back home without damages☆

・When you get someone to exchange your goods.

In purchasing trading goods, you may be able to exchange your goods for your favorite character’s goods from someone.

In the case, as shown in the below photo, goods that you want by exchanging should be displayed in a case, and prepare for a board etc., saying which character’s goods are wanted.

The photo shows a board saying “Want: Tokiya”.

Depending on the events, ‘exchange spaces’ may be ready to exchange trading goods, so you just take the case to the exchange spaces!

In the exchange places, people get together to the person having a case to exchange goods, like the below picture shown.

4. Big handbags

When you buy Doujinshi, almost always plastic bags don’t come with Doujinshi. So, bags for bringing Doujinshi back home are a must!

When you buy official goods such as event-limited sets, as the below photo shows a paper bag set on the pink bag , big paper bags are given in most of the times.

Of course, it is fine to use the paper bags but they may get dirty.

Don’t you bring back home beautifully the bags with characters’ pictures printed?!

In that case, a bag which can fit the paper bag in without folding is recommended. ('ω'〃)

If it rains, if you could put a big plastic bag for trash etc., your Doujinshi or paper bags may not get wet so it is much better!

5. Others

Blanket

In the case of events held at cold times, many people bring a blanket with anime pictures.

Measures against cold at cold times are required.

・Hooded Towel

Almost always we are not allowed to use umbrellas in cues, so hooded towels are recommended for raining or summer with strong sunshine.

Ita-bag

I don’t recommend you to bring Ita-bag because you may hit someone where many people get together such as Comiket, but taking it with you to events less crowded than Comiket is recommended.

You will like to re-make Ita-bag before each event. (。>v<。)

Events are where Otaku get together! Show off your ‘love’ at a maximum♪

That’s it!

It was Mafuyu’s useful things to bring in events.

Things mentioned above are not all, but I will be happy if you could refer to them for going to events★

Your precious and joyful events!

Get ready in advance and attend events in a perfect condition!
