Mafuyu(^q^): It’s October tomorrow! That means the fall anime will kick off! I can’t wait for watching UtaPri~!

 

 

Aoi( ´_ゝ`): Yahoo~! It looks like we have so many fun anime in fall too, such as Ajin, ClassicaLoid, Yuri!!! on Ice, Fune wo Amu and...

 

 

Mafuyu(^q^): Yep, they all sound interesting huh?!

 

 

Aoi( ´_ゝ`): The one I can’t wait for most though, is Season 2 of IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS!!

 

 

Mafuyu(^q^): (GUNDAM again...)

 

 

Aoi( ´_ゝ`): I thought more people would watch GUNDAM since Akai and Amuro, who became super popular from Conan movie’s release, are the model of the characters. But I guess not so many people are watching it, unfortunately!!!

 

 

Mafuyu(^q^): That’s a horrible theory... To me, GUNDAM is hard to understand, story is long and the threshold is kind of high...

 

 

Aoi( ´_ゝ`): Conan is long too though! But today! I’m going to share Season 1 of IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS with you so that people like you can even enjoy GUNDAM!

☆The sustenance of life is on the battlefield.☆

 

The World View 

It’s P.D.(Post Disaster)323, three hundred years after the Calamity War, which the whole terrestrial was involved, was over. It was peaceful in the terrestrial under the supervision of Gjallarhorn, which is the armed organization. But they started having a crucial problem having ‘poverty’ in the policy of the terrestrial, which also influenced the outside orbit such as Mars and Mercury. Especially in Mars, which was an actual colony of the earth, the independence movement was activated by the people who were unsatisfied with unfair economical agreement. Also, there were more social issues such as irregular employment child soldiers by the main characters Mikazuki and Orga, and ‘Human Deburi’, which the orphans who people called the life cheaper than the iron scrap, are human-trafficked.

 

 

Season 1 is a story about Mikazuki and Orga who took over the private security company, CGS, and established ‘Tekkadan’. Then they engaged in guarding a girl, Kudelia, who commanded the independent movement in Mars and also sending her to the earth. The depicting of the social issues in the background and each character are so interesting!

 

 

 

☆The Main Points That We Should Know☆

 

★Tekkadan

It’s an organization that boys established after they got rid of all the adults of CGS after the attack of Gjallarhorn. Orga named it, meaning ‘Iron flowers that never fall’‘Iron petals that never scatter’. Even though they had a difficulty managing a financial problem, they kept guarding Kudelia. They became under Teiwaz by Turbines (who they ran into in the middle)’s introduction. Then they arrived at the earth, passing the back side of the sea route, where Gjallarhorn couldn’t even watch. Tekkadan, who achieved a great job and arrived at Mars, became gigantic enough to be able to set up the earth branch under the abundant fund.

 

 

★Gjallarhorn

After the Calamity War is over, it was established on purpose of keeping peace as a military organization. 7 clans, called Seven Stars were in charge of this organization and the members are basically from the earth. The purpose of human regeneration became a dead letter and the inside of Gjallarhorn was corrupted in about three hundred years. The organization is now pressed for a restoration after Tekkadan and Kudelia revealed the corruption and being questioned by the people.

 

 

★Teiwaz

It’s a huge conglomerate in the Mercury and the biggest force of all the outside orbits. Developing their original mobile suits and influencing both the earth and the outside orbits, even Gjallarhorn cannot interfere. They have their own culture such as Kanji character and old rituals.

 

 

★Arayashiki System

It’s an organic device system that was made about 300 years ago. With Nano machine, it can instinctively operate airframe’s handling so that the computer on the body side and the passengers’ brains can be directly linked. Nano machine can only be settled in children. Also, the boys who did the surgery of the alaya-vijnana system are despised being called the ‘space rats’. In the earth, artificial arms, hands and legs are being disliked.

 

 

 

☆Characters☆

 

★Mikazuki Augus

He has such a strong body and a mental power that he could overcome alaya-vijnana three times. He keeps his own pace and has a strong fellowship, and sacrifices anything for his fellow. He has a strong bond with Orga since they are also childhood friends. He never fails to refuse any favor that Orga asks and be responsible for doing anything for him, believing that he can get to ‘the place that is not here but somewhere else’ that Orga said. He fights as if it wasn’t the one that a main character would fight such as shooting someone dead, cutting off the enemy’s last words and targeting cockpit tenacious. Viewers call him a devil...! His dream is owning the farm.

 

 

★Orga Itsuka

He is the leader of Tekkadan with a high charisma and leadership. He has a strong consciousness with his fellow and decided to save Tekkadan, which is a ‘home’ for the members, being influenced by Naze after becoming under Teiwaz. He keeps trying hard overcoming hardship with responsibility as a leader, pressure and loneliness (a thorough trust by Mikazuki). The one fellow who he can tell about his worries was Biscuit but they argued over the matter that Biscuit didn’t like Orga’s ambition and Biscuit ended up dying before they compromise. That hurt him so much but he was able to overcome thanks to Mikazuki, who can never allow him to sit still and wait. He even tried to achieve his job, defeating Gjallarhorn. We are a little worried about him though, since he tends to be so reckless at times that he might get hurt.

 

 

★Tekkadan’s members

Shino, Eugene, Biscuit, Akihiro, Ride, Takaki, Yamagi

Dependable adult members, courageous and immature boy members..... each character is being depicted so well!

★Kudelia Aina Bernstein

She is the girl in the center of the Independent movement in Mars. She aims at going to the earth to be able to do the original distribution by the main industry, half metal resources in Mars. But she was attacked by Gjallarhorn on the CGS base which was asked to guard since her father and Gjallarhorn Mar branch, which thinks she was dangerous, were connected behind her. As she saw so many boys dying in front of her, she realized her powerlessness with a gap between her ideal and reality. But she asked Mikazuki and Tekkadan to save the earth again. Through her travel to the earth, Kudelia is going to be questioned about her resolution to get involved in ‘her own battle’.

She is such a strong heroine who can never lose heart or make use of people who make use of her!

 

 

★Atra Mixta

She used to go to CGS to convey food. She used to work at the store which was the very bottom of the social pyramid but jumped out of there and wandered about the street, when Mikazuki saved her. She fell in love with him, thanking him at that time. Knowing that Tekkadan is leaving the Mar, she decided to go there as a person in charge of the kitchen. She was showing her strong side, fighting against the violence when she was kidnapped being made a mistake for Kudelia.

It’s so cute that she thinks it’s a great idea to become a family member with Mikazuki, Kudelia and Atra.

 

 

★McGillis Fareed

His father is one of the Seven Star’s clan owners, Izunario. He is clearheaded and has a high analytical capacity. He is aiming at the organization’s reformation, worrying about Gjallarhorn’s corruption and the low domination ability. His heart is cold enough to be able to make use of his friends such as Gaelio or Karuta when it comes to reform the organization. Also, he has another face called, ‘Montaku Shoukai’ and gets close to Tekkadan and act in secret.

 

 

★Gaelio Bauduin

He is an heir of Bauduin family who is a part of Seven Stars. He has a strong justice since he is proud of his family clan. He is aiming at reforming Gjallarhorn, having pure knightliness mind. Even though he trusted his best friend, McGilis, he was betrayed. He showed off Graze Ein as a symbol of Gjallarhorn’s corruption to the people and made Tekkadan defeat it, which was his way of reforming. Therefore, he tries to kill McGillis being angry with the fact that his friend Karuta was killed being made used of. But he ended up dying after he lost the battle.

★Ein Dalton

He is a young pilot who belongs to Gjallarhorn Mar branch. He became a subordinate of Gaelio to fight against Tekkadan, swearing the revenge towards Tekkadan after Mikazuki killed his loving the first lieutenant, Crank. He was almost killed in the battle of the earth orbit but after he did the surgery of alaya-vijnana system, which was actually a taboo, he survived by Graze Ein’s body part incorporated into his. He overwhelmed Mikazuki with that power but he ended up being defeated by him, who released the power of alaya-vijnana in the battle.

 

 

 

☆Deep Battle Scene and Mobile Suits☆

 

Mobile Suits Battle full of profound feeling is one of the attractions as well!

Since this is not the beam weapon but the close battle with the live ammunition and the iron sword is mainly depicted, we can actually feel the argument and their feelings in the battle.

Most of the characters of IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS act practically, not fighting for ‘justice’ or ‘peace’. Even though Tekkadan and Kudelia have tried hard in their own ways, we can never know if that’s the right way or not in the story. Some situations can be seen peacefully or perfectly, but they are actually just made use of by McGillis that plots out ‘something’ in the story. What can we see ahead of their acts? We cannot miss out Season 2!
