This time! Among the Fall 2025 anime lineup, here’s one that’s a bit unusual!? The short story collection that marks the origins of the hit-making manga artist is being adapted into an anime!

When you think about it, this is pretty amazing~! What’s being animated are 8 short stories written by Chainsaw Man’s creator, Fujimoto Tatsuki-sensei, between the ages of 17 and 26! The original manga is properly compiled too—stories from ages 17–21 were released as the upper volume, and those from ages 22–26 as the lower volume. Now they’re combined and aired as 17-26!

Should you watch these 8 short one-shots? Well, each one is independently interesting and works as a complete short story, so I’d recommend it! Some characters are even said to be models or early versions of characters from Chainsaw Man and other works! Since they’re all drawn by the same author, you’ll even find a girl named Nayuta—same name, similar appearance—who’s the protagonist of one of the stories! So, while it’s not a ‘must-see’ for Chainsaw Man fans, you might definitely spot some ‘aha!’ moments!

When it comes to Fujimoto-sensei’s short works, many might think of Look Back. But Look Back was written in 2021, so the works in this short story collection give off a slightly different impression! Above all, each story is self-contained and easy to watch, so personally I think it’s one of the most approachable and recommendable Fall anime! Definitely check out these 8 short stories, which could be called the origins of Chainsaw Man, as a Fall anime!
