Now that we’re in mid-September...... let’s check out some of the fall anime to watch! Personally, the one I’ve been waiting for is that game finally getting an anime! Even if you’ve never played the game before, this is your chance to discover the story from the very beginning!

Wow, it feels like forever since the anime was first announced...... and now we can finally say it’s about to air! I swear we’ve waited over a year. So yes, today we’re checking out the anime version of Twisted Wonderland!

For those unfamiliar, Twisted Wonderland is a mobile game primarily released in Japan. It was developed under Disney’s supervision and full cooperation, featuring characters inspired by Disney’s famous villains!

Most fall anime start in early October, but since Twisted Wonderland will only have 8 episodes (apparently), it’s starting a bit later—on October 28th.

In the game, the player character suddenly gets transported from the modern world into Twisted Wonderland, where they’re taken in by the magic academy Night Raven College. You become the ‘prefect,’ with the freedom to choose your name and even your gender, which makes the immersion amazing. But for the anime, they’re using the comic version’s protagonist, Enma Yuken! He’s a high school kendo club member who stumbles upon a carriage carrying a black coffin on his way home—and that’s how he ends up in Twisted Wonderland......

By the way, the protagonist changes from episode to episode! In Chapter 2, it’s a girl disguised as a boy; in Chapter 3, it’s a chubby boy with a sweet tooth. The common thread is that each version of the prefect has traits or backstories that stir up the complex feelings of that chapter’s dorm leader.

Episodes 2 and 3 are already confirmed! The short 8-episode format and late October start are unusual, but I can’t wait for this long-awaited anime to finally air! If you’ve never played Twisted Wonderland, this is your chance—the main story is faithfully adapted from the comic. Don’t miss seeing how the Disney villains were reimagined through this world.
