The 2025 summer anime announcements are coming in one after another~! One much-anticipated series that’s been out in manga form and had fans saying ‘I hope this gets an anime soon!’ is finally getting animated this summer! Let’s take a closer look at what kind of anime it is~!

Are you familiar with the Japanese fairy tale Momotaro? One day, a strong baby boy is born from a peach. Raised by a kind old couple, Momotaro decides to defeat the oni (demons) that trouble the people. He teams up with a dog, monkey, and pheasant, and together they defeat the oni. And they all lived happily ever after...... That’s the tale.

In the world of Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood, that tale may be a fairy tale, but it’s also based on truth. The conflict in the Momotaro story sparked a full-blown war between the descendants of Momotaro and the oni, leading to the formation of opposing factions. Even after many years, there’s no resolution...... Now, in modern times, the spotlight shifts to the story’s protagonist, a high school student named Shiki.

Shiki had been living a peaceful life. But one day, his adoptive father is killed by a mysterious group in white clothing, and Shiki himself is thrown into danger.

The ones who save Shiki are a black-clad organization that opposes the white group. There, Shiki learns the shocking truth: he is a descendant of the oni, and the battle between oni and Momotaro’s descendants is still ongoing today......! To avenge his adoptive father, Shiki seeks to control the oni power he couldn’t manage before, and put an end to this ancient conflict, but......!?

Tougen Anki: Legend of the Cursed Blood uses a fairy tale familiar to Japanese people as its motif, but it also stands out as a very cool supernatural battle manga! The oni can transform their own blood into weapons, while the Momotaro faction counters using the power of engineered bacteria. The oni side hopes to communicate with the Momotaro side—if possible—but where will the story go......?
