Speaking of summer in Japan?  A special article for the items of summer!

( ̄Д ̄;;) “Hello everyone...!  My favorite flavor of ice cream is chocolate.  It’s Saori from Otaku Republic!”

(;;  'ω') “Hello everyone...  My favorite flavor of ice cream is strawberry or maccha (green tea).  I’m Otaku Republic’s Boss.”

maco123.blog76.fc2.com

ヽ(*´∀`)ノ “Summer is the best season for ice cream! Yeah~~!”

(;;  'ω') “You know what?  It’s hot.  We’ve been having such weird weather these days in Japan.  It gets freezing cold when we have a rainy day and gets super-hot just like we’re in the middle of the summer when we have a sunny day.”

(・ω・) “Yeah.  Summer is just around the corner~.  Awww, this chocolate ice cream is yum yum.”

(((((  'ω') “Oh!  I gotta go get maccha ice cream too!”

(・ω・) “Do you think it’s good to have such a lazy Saori Press like this?”

(  'ω') “I guess it’s okay.  You know?  It’s ‘summer’ right now.  This maccha ice cream is yum yum.”

★Speaking of summer in Japan?  A special article for the items of summer!★

(・ω・) “By the way, everyone, what would you imagine, speaking of Japanese summer-like view?”

(  'ω') “Well.... I would say beach or pool but...”

www.yamazen-k.co.jp

(  'ω') “I guess more than half of them would imagine a view shown above.”

(σ´∪`σ) “Yep!  I thought so!  This is a common view in Japan, which has also appeared in some Japanese anime as well!”

kagano443.blog.fc2.com

http://blog.goo.ne.jp/titibupaleo/e/be6dc068bee90a97fcf811e7b3998e98

(  'ω') “But I often wonder if foreign people who see this view would wonder ‘what that item is’”

matome.naver.jp

( ・∀・)σ “I think they would!  I was thinking the company named ‘ACME’ appearing in Looney Tunes was the actual company that exists when I was a little too!  (I’ve heard that it’s just the imaginary company and it literally means the ‘acme’, which is available for any items...)  If we don’t know the word, there are so many things that we don’t understand the meaning of, right?”

moreinterestinger.blogspot.com

(  'ω') “So today!  We will share some necessary summer items in Japan with you guys so that all of you can enjoy Japanese culture even more when you come visit Japan!”

★Electric Fans

girlschannel.net

(  'ω') “Yep, this is our traditional electric fans in Japan.  But is this not common overseas?”

( ・∀・)σ “No way!  It is!  I’ve heard that it’s more common overseas as the Air Circulator which specializes in the purpose of circulating the air in the room, rather than feeling coolness with the direct air to the skin.”

www.amazon.co.jp

(  'ω') “Yeah, that’s right.”

( ・∀・)σ “By the way, they care about how they set up the Circulator in terms of the sound it makes or the wind (so that it won’t blow the paper in the room), since the major purpose of it is circulating the air.”

(  'ω') “Hmmm... well... then do you think people overseas do that?

( ゚Д゚) “That?”

http://vitzstar.blog51.fc2.com/blog-entry-2619.html

mas.at.webry.info

minkara.carview.co.jp

(  'ω') “Most Japanese people put the air into their mouths or say, ‘We are the aliens’ when they have the electric fan in front of them.”

( ゚Д゚) “Yep, that’s true.”

(  'ω') “But it’s kind of weird, right?  We, Japanese people, just do it despite that we don’t learn to do it from anybody.”

( ・∀・)σ “By the way, we say ‘we are the aliens’ since our voice changes due to the vibration of the electric fan.  People started doing it since that vibrated voice sounded like the alien’s, unlike their own voices.”

★Soumen (vermicelli / fine noodles)

www.drwallet.jp

(  'ω') “This is a staple meal eaten in Japan’s summer, right?”

( ・∀・)σ “What is Soumen?”

It’s one of the noodles made out of flour eaten in Japan or the eastern Asia.

The Soumen is sold dry so it’s available all through the year.

But it’s common to eat cold in summer as one of the noodles for cooking, since people want to eat something cold.

(  'ω') “In short, it’s so popular as one of the quick, easy and cold foods on hot summer days!”

www.anime-line.com

( ゚Д゚) “By the way, to eat Soumen is like doing sports.  If you eat it as a real game, it’s necessary to eat it with a special machine set up outside.  The name of the game is ‘NAGASHI SOOOMEN’.”

(  'ω')!?

jin115.com

( ゚Д゚) “The rule is simple.  We compete with each other on catching as many noodles as we  can (that comes down from the top).”

jin115.com

( ゚Д゚) “If we catch it with anything other than chopsticks, we take off the points.”

47todoufuken.jugem.jp

( ゚Д゚) “If we stop the noodles that come down from the top with chopsticks or our feet, we are instantly eliminated, since it’s not a beautiful thing to do.”

(  'ω') “Don’t tell a lie.”

blog.livedoor.jp

(  'ω') “Soumen is delicious and happy food to eat.  Japanese people love Soumen so much that some areas (Kagoshima Prefecture) have their special machines to flow the Soumen, as below.”

matome.naver.jp

( ゚Д゚) “By the way, if Japanese people say, ‘I’ve only been eating Soumen recently’, please treat him or her for some delicious food, since that’s an appeal by him or her implying, ‘I haven’t been able to eat good since I don’t have money’.”

(  'ω') That’s true.  Even though Soumen is cheap, there’s not enough nutrition.  We can live with Soumen even if we don’t have money.  But be careful not to be malnutrition.”

★Fuurin (wind-bell)

www.timeout.jp

(゚∀゚) “What is Fuurin?”

Fuurin is a small-sized bell that is hung down under the eaves in summer in Japan.  It makes sounds by the wind.

http://ameblo.jp/atluslove-1229/entry-11895186876.html

(  'ω') “It’s a small bell which makes such a beautiful sound.  When we hear this sound, we can feel cool even if it’s a slight wind.”

( ・∀・)σ “I like the Fuurin made with glass but I like the one made with ironware too.”

(  'ω') “You can either decorate it or enjoy the sound!!  When you see the Fuurin, why don’t you blow it and enjoy watching it shake?”

( ・∀・)σ “By the way, there are some characters which are designed as the Fuurin too!  Most are small and cute, so please check them out!  This is a character that I recommend, by the way!”

★Watermelon

( ゚Д゚) “Watermelon...  it’s a rival forever for the Japanese people.  Japanese are the tribes who cannot but split up when they see a watermelon.”

blogs.yahoo.co.jp

( ゚Д゚) “When we see a watermelon, we hold the best-sized stick in our hands, get rid of all the sights, and start walking toward the watermelon with every nerve.”

http://anicobin.ldblog.jp/archives/43714663.html

( ゚Д゚) “If we have buddies around us, we are allowed to have some advice from them.  The challenger swings the stick down as soon as he or she feels the watermelon in front of he or she and...”

shiraizaka.jp

( ゚Д゚) “split up.”

nachtzeit.blog96.fc2.com

( ゚Д゚) “Split up.”

blogs.yahoo.co.jp

( ゚Д゚) “Spli...Split up.”

(  'ω') “That’s not true, is it?  Most of them are true but we don’t have such rules, right?”

【The correct rule for the split watermelon】

1 Challenger holds the stick with a blindfold where it is far from a watermelon.

2 Friends give the challenger some advice like ‘Right!’ or ‘Left!’, so that he or she can get closer to the watermelon.

3 Challenger swing the stick down when he or she thinks it’s there by the hint that are given by friends.

4 If the challenger can split up the watermelon, he or she wins!

5 If the watermelon is split up, let’s eat it with everybody!  It’ll be more delicious if you sprinkle some salt on it.

blogs.yahoo.co.jp

※If you want to give a watermelon to the animals, they tend to have diarrhea since it has so much water in it.  (If you give a little amount, it’s okay.)  Nyanko Sensei has no problems, since he is a Yokai (monster).  Please be very careful if you feed them.

(゜▽゜*) “You will never be scared of Japanese summer if you know these four items!!”

(  'ω') “If you have something that you don’t know about the summer anime, 2015, please check this page out!”

( ・∀・)σ “Okay now, this is all for today!  Please have a happy summer, you guys!”

Byeeee!
