The game I'm introducing today is the new RPG released by ATLUS in the fall of 2024! It carries on ATLUS's signature stylishness but is set in a fantasy world instead of a modern one! And of course, it's not about adventuring through a peaceful world; in this world, the late king's will triggers a dramatic 'election'......
In a certain kingdom, both the prince and the king were lost to assassination, leaving the kingdom without a ruler. However, the prince, though afflicted by a curse that was eating away at his body, was secretly still alive and hidden in a secluded village.
Amidst this, the protagonist of Metaphor: ReFantazio, along with their fairy companion Galica, heads to the capital, where the throne sits empty. Their goal: to lift the prince's deadly curse before time runs out and ensure he becomes king.
In the capital, a covert struggle among influential figures for the next throne was already underway. It was expected that one of the former retainers who had supported the king would become the new ruler.
However, on the day of the king's state funeral, a “Election Magic” spell, left behind by the late king at the cost of his life, was activated. The decree was: “The one who gathers the most trust from the people by the set deadline shall become the next king.”
The unprecedented situation of “deciding the king by the will of the people” left the entire nation in shock.
And so began the extraordinary battle for the throne. Crossing the boundaries of race and social status, the opportunity was open to everyone.
While many declared themselves candidates, driven by their own ambitions, the protagonist and their companions also decided to throw themselves into the “election” to fulfill their mission. On their grand journey revolving around the throne, the protagonist encounters companions from various races and forms deep bonds with many people.

The setting is quite unique, and while it's a fantasy world, there are also elements of mechanical advancement, which makes the world really fascinating! In order to claim the throne, warriors from various races start taking action all over the place. Initially, the protagonist sets out on a journey to break the prince's curse, but they inevitably get caught up in this 'election' that engulfs the entire kingdom.

To put it simply, if you've played Persona 3, 4, or 5 even once, you'll absolutely love this game—it's a masterpiece! Not only is the story incredibly engaging, but with ATLUS's rich history of crafting solid RPGs, there's no way this new title could disappoint. It's got the signature stylishness, smooth gameplay, and plenty of customizable elements to suit your preferences. As an original RPG, it's an exceptionally well-made game.
