Hello everybody!  It’s Ayami from Otaku Republic. (・v・)  We have recently had a heavy rain due to the out of season typhoon in Japan....

Speaking of the rain, there are many kinds of onomatopoeic words that represent the rain in Japanese!  For instance....

 

●「zaa-zaa」→This word represents the sound of the heavy rain.  The night when we were having the typhoon was just like this.( =ω=)

●「shito-shito」→This word represents the quiet rain which has almost no sounds.

●「potsu-potsu／para-para」→This word represents the scattered rain which just started!

How did you like them?  Even though we only have one word to represent the rain, the way we represent each kind of rain is various! 

 

So today, I’ll show you guys some cool onomatopoeic words that appear in anime or manga!

☆ZAWA…ZAWA… / Kaiji

This one is often used in “Kaiji”!  It’s used to represent the sound of people that are bussing with something or the conditions of unstable or restless people. 

Yes, I feel my mind goes “ZAWA…ZAWA…” too when I am nervous. ( ´_ゝ`)

 

 

 

☆Nurufufufu / Ansatsu Kyoushitsu

This word represents the sound made by Koro-sensei in Ansatsu Kyoushitsu (Assassination Classroom) when he laughs!

Koro-sensei utilizes his slimy (Nuru-Nuru) feelers very well.

This is a cool mixed word with such a word “Nuru-Nuru” and the laughter “fufufu”! (・v・)

 

(Speaking of Assassination Classroom.... Karuma-kun who appeared in episode 16 was so cute, wasn’t he? (*-ω-))

☆MERU-MERU / Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

This is the onomatopoeic word that appeared in “Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei”! 

It seems to be used when she sends an email, right?  MERUMERU, MERUMERU…  It’s the perfect onomatopoeic word to use when the emails are sent, for sure. (´ゝω･)σ

 

 

 

☆Bo / Hunter x Hunter

This is the onomatopoeic word that appeared in the scene of the “Hunter x Hunter” where Gon attacked. 

Yes, it’s so simply, just “Bo”, right?  But I don’t think there is any other suitable word except “Bo” for this scene. 

I can tell how unique the writer’s sense is by this onomatopoeic word..... ( =ω=)

 

 

 

And finally....  speaking of the anime which has the funny onomatopoeic word, you know it right?  Yes, it’s “Jojo no Kimyou na Bouken (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)”!

 

 

☆ZUKYUUUUN / JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

This is the onomatopoeic word used in the scene of Part 1, when Dio kissed Erina! 

 

ZUKYUUUUN has more like the image of the sound when a gun is shot in Japanese.... But in this situation, this onomatopoeic word seems to have represented and emphasized the strong shock that Erina got from him. Σ(･ω･ﾉ)ﾉ 

 

This is such a unique way of using the onomatopoeic word, which we can rarely see in other anime or manga!

 

 

 

And after this Part 1, there will be more and more onomatopoeic words in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, which we have never heard before......

 

 

 

☆Rucha / JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

This is the scene of Part 2, where Suzi Q picked up a stone on the street.  The word “Rucha” which was shown in the manga was shown in the anime as well!  I can tell the sound of the stone hitting the asphalt is just like “Rucha”, don’t you think?

 

 

 

☆Guppaon / JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

This is the scene of Part 3, where Jyoutarou fell down from the stairs in the battle!  The onomatopoeic word used in this scene was.... “Guppaon”.  “Guppaon”.....  “paon” could be the sound of him falling down through the wind....? 

Maybe only the writer, Araki sensei knows the true meaning of the “Guppaon”. ( =ω=)

 

 

 

There are more unique onomatopoeic words shown after Part 4 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure as well.....  But today, I shared the ones shown from Part 1 to Part 3 with you guys!  How did you like them all (｡･ω･)ﾉ？ 

 

 

 

Since the Part 3 of the JoJo is now on air, it might be fun if you focus on those onomatopoeic words when you watch it! 

And!  I wonder how those unique onomatopoeic words will be translated into other languages overseas. (*･ω･*)
