"Tsuritama" is a rare masterpiece mix of anime about fishing and bromance anime in Japan.
No way, I never thought something like this would be seen in Japan! Although it's such a masterpiece, very few people around me have seen it, because in truth... Isn't it a fact that "Tsuritama" was positioned as a hidden masterpiece? So, I would like here, by all means, to tell everyone how good "Tsuritama" is.
But.. "Tsuritama" has so many good points, that it is difficult to explain them in a few words. Well, being multifaceted, and not one-sided, is proof that it is a masterpiece. (^_^)
This is a clear synopsis of the story, to awaken interest. However, from here on, there will be story spoilers... It is the story of a lonely boy, a self.styled alien and a fishing prince, who become friends, and go fishing together with a strange (25 years old) transfer student... Shall we leave the explanation at that?..♪
That much alone indicates that, being about youth, it contains plenty of fun and heart-rending elements.
There is plenty to excite and move the heart. Seeing those 4 boys fishing side by side, for some reason, made me feel like my chest was constricting and I wanted to weep. Could it be because, during my own youth, I dreamed of such situations? I longed to be part of a friendship like the one shown in "Tsuritama".
At the beginning of my introduction of "Tsuritama", I explained that "Tsuritama" was a masterpiece of bromance anime, or something like that.
"Bromance" is a word seldom heard in Japan, but in America, it seems a well-known genre. "Bromance" is an abbreviation, the official name is "Brother Romance". It is a story that has no BL elements, but depicts the deep friendship between men.
In that sense, "Tsuritama" is an anime where you enjoy watching close friends being together. Of course, it is also fun to watch the interactions with girl companions, lovers and family members. (^_^)
"Tsuritama", which depicts the deep friendship between men, is an anime that shows so beautifully a page of teenage life, that when I watched it, my eyes kept watering. Even if you aren't someone that cries easily, I think "Tsuritama" will move your heart to the point of tears, it is such a good anime. What I means is, it is an anime one wants to see!!
This might be just an extra point, but I believe the opening, "Monochrome tedium", is also a strong, famous song. After all, a good anime always has a good opening and a good music. "Fuji Fabric", who created "Monochrome Tedium", exactly 2 years after the passing away of their main vocal artist, were going through some hardships at the time they made this piece.
The truth is, they overcame such harsh times, and facing forward created such a bright tune. The band's strenght to "give it all" and "go forward", makes me want to weep. I have this tune in my MP3 player even today♪ Indeed, I listen to it frequently♪
The anime "Tsuritama", together with it's opening, is certainly the greatest, and a masterpiece amongst the masterpieces you'd want to try!
